Get out of Trouble with a Go Bag
Even on sunny‚ calm days‚ experienced sailors know to plan for unpredicted weather‚ accidents and unforeseen equipment problems. In part‚ they do this by stocking and carrying a "go bag" with common sense supplies that might be the difference between a successful sail‚ making it home unassisted or needing the help of a first responder. For example‚ your go bag might contain a multitool‚ electrical tape‚ a water bottle and more.
MCSC Intermediate and Advance Sailing Instructor Kristin Pratt will show you what’s in her go bag and suggest ideas and supplies for yours. Leave with a few key hard-to-find items and‚ importantly‚ have a plan to get and use others.
Note: New for 2024‚ sailors seeking a Heavy Rating or an Endorsement for a Tunable or Cruising Boat will be required to bring their own go bag‚ including a short list of key tools. This class will set the stage.
