Adult Sailing Instruction
40.1 Introduction to Racing (Ensigns)
Designed for sailors with a Medium Air Rating and an Ensign Endorsement who aspire to race‚ this class focuses on the fundamentals of sailboat racing‚ including boat preparation‚ crew roles‚ courses‚ racing rules and etiquette‚ common situations‚ starting‚ boat handling‚ team-work and basic tactics.
This class will meet once a week for four weeks.
All sailing will be done aboard Ensigns. No spinnakers will be flown.
Prerequisites: 10.1 and 10.2‚ and a Medium Air Rating and an Ensign Endorsement or equivalent and a pre-assessment.
Proficiency of skills at this level is required to become a Race Team Leader (RTL) for Ensign racing.
