61.1 Intro to Gennaker Socks

This special 3 hour clinic introduces two specialized technologies:

1.) A Gennaker - a cruising asymmetrical spinnaker that doesn’t need a pole and is designed for easy handling and‚
2.) a gennaker/spinnaker sock‚ a system that simplifies the launching and dousing of one of these sails.

This clinic is designed for MCSC members who own or are thinking about owning their own cruising sailboat‚ or MCSC members curious about how these specialized systems work.

This clinic will be taught in classroom and dockside using an OD Ensign as the main platform and‚ weather allowing‚ will feature on-water demonstrations and a brief sail using a gennaker and sock.

Prerequisites: 10.2 and/or a Medium Air Rating and an Ensign Endorsement or equivalent are suggested. This clinic is not designed to support a Rating or Endorsement‚ but to expand a sailor’s experience base.
