Fall and Winter Programs

DIY Sailing Electronics (2-parts)

Jason Greenwood actively races and cruises his Hunter 336 Après and often invites MCSC members and friends as crew.

Jason is also a Mechanical Engineer‚ and has embarked on a project to create dependable and high-featured sailing and navigation electronics from existing boat electronics and common sensors‚ development electronics like Raspberry PI‚ common displays‚ and using an open-source navigation data/software platform called Openplotter. This winter‚ he’ll bring his systems to MCSC to share the basics of Do-it-yourself sailing electronics. The next week‚ he’ll dig deeper into some of the problems he has tackled and the technical solutions he has found.

Anyone with a need for more data or electronics on a budget will enjoy one or both sessions.

Jason shares his experiences - about both sailing and engineering - on a popular YouTube channel.
