Milwaukee is increasingly becoming known around the world as a freshwater hub of manufacturing and technology, however, a surprising number of local area schools still do not incorporate the Great Lakes and its resources into their curriculum.
MCSC has expanded its sailing program offerings to meet this need by partnering with local schools to teach the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) of sailing on the Great Lakes. This innovative program called 'STEMward: Sailing Into Schools' mission is to excite and engage students to become Marine Engineers by exploring science, technology, engineering, and mathematics using sailing as a real-life and hands-on learning experience.
MCSC offers STEM programs through select schools in the spring and fall. We also have summer STEM programming available for 8-11 year olds through our partnership with Discovery World and for 12-17 year old through our all-day STEM program.
