Next Level Knots and Basic Splicing
In this two-part series‚ Chris Jennings (boat owner‚ member and VI) introduces the knots and knowledge required to begin splicing. This seminar includes the materials and tools to learn how to tie a:
- Bowline on a bight
- An alpine/butterfly hitch
- A carrick bend
- A diamond knot
Once these knots are mastered (or at least understood)‚ you will also learn to complete a
- 3-strand eye splice (useful in making your own mooring pendants or dock lines.)
- Soft shackle (a lighter‚ stronger shackle made from Dyneema(TM) instead of stainless steel.)
Participants are urged to also take "Advanced Splicing"‚ the following week. These are separate registrations.
